Duties/Responsibilities:

Specialist knowledge of Microbiology and as such perform the full range of diagnostic/ analytical procedures offered by the department. Using professional judgment when assessing the clinical and technical implications of results produced. 

During the course of my BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences and MSc in Pathological Sciences I have covered many subjects including human reproductive biology and embryology. This has provided me with an up to date understanding and further interested me to pursue a career in this field.

I am computer literate and have had experience of 2 different laboratory information management systems - the last system being BioEden V1.1.
I can use MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and various other programmes.

I have gained excellent communication skills as a scientist and as a laboratory manager in both written and verbal as it plays an important part of the day to day job.

I am able to multi task, work under pressure meeting deadlines and cope with unpredictable situations without compromising the quality of work.

I have excellent analytical, practical skills gained both within academic and work environment. I also have excellent microscopy skills with a keen eye for attention to details and very good manual dexterity.

 

I have an understanding of the role played by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) in licensing and monitoring UK clinics that offer IVF and DI treatment. HFEA also regulate the storage or eggs, sperms and embryos.


Professional interests and activities

MSc research project: A comparison of the techniques for the detection of MRSA. The aim of the project was to determine optimum concentration of a recently applied antibiotic with a current antibiotic used in confirming MRSA


Other information

I pride myself on being extremely well organised at work (and at home) as my philosophy is that a person who is organised is able to work efficiently and effectively.
When I am not spending time with my family I enjoy playing football, DIY and I try to keep fit by jogging regularly.

I have the drive, enthusiasm and motivation to pursue a career as a clinical embryologist I am as enthusiastic about my scientific profession as I was when I first started work and I believe this is demonstrated by my commitment to the training, education and being an active member of continuing professional development.

I have enjoyed a reputation for being a hard-working, industrious individual. My motivation is to utilise completely my accumulated experience and knowledge to the fullest extent possible as a clinical embryologist and I am willing to learn new skills and train further.
