BlastAssist System

Intended use
The BlastAssist System is designed for use with or without Universal IVF (Cat.No. 1030/1031) from fertilisation through to blastocyst development.

Background
Sequential culturing of human embryos from fertilisation to the blastocyst stage has been demonstrated to improve selection of embryos with higher implantation rates.

BlastAssist System is supplied as ready-to-use solutions for dedicated blastocyst culturing and consists of two sequential media. The media contain L-glutamine in its bioavailable form to give maximum delivery of this component within the culture environment. L-glutamine is relatively unstable and therefore as a consequence, the shelf life of the BlastAssist System is reduced.

Clinical studies including IVF and ICSI have resulted in pregnancy rates per transfer up to 60 % in case of blastocyst transfer (Bertheussen, 2000, Private Communication).
