A new on-line, distance-learning program will be offered by The Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, beginning in May 2003. Upon satisfactory completion of the two-year course, a Masters of Science degree will be awarded from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Many embryologists and andrologists have years of job experience, yet may not have the specific background training behind the methods. Today's lab specialists require a foundation to
- prepare and adapt for new technologies
- understand the relevance of advances in cell and gamete biology and genetics
- strengthen career opportunities
- anticipate future personnel requirements
- apply good clinical practices
Courses include cellular and molecular biology, reproductive endocrinology, embryology, ART laboratory procedures, quality assurance, genetics, cryopreservation and ethics.
