Training opportunity in clinical embryology and andrology techniques. Several sessions available throughout the year. This course is offered by the Cleveland Clinic’s Fertility Center The basic training module is designed to give participants comprehensive background and introduction to IVF techniques in the clinical IVF setting using state -of-the art equipment. A Certificate of Training at the Cleveland Clinic IVF Laboratory is awarded upon completion of the course. Hands-on instruction and a detailed protocols  provided. The course includes the following: Embryology: Ovulation induction protocols, media preparation, oocyte retrieval, sperm preparation, insemination, pronuclear grading, syngamy check, embryo grading Day 3 through 5 , embryo selection for Day 3 or Day 5 transfer, laser hatching, catheter loading for transfer, quality control and IVF lab setup. ICSI: Oocyte stripping, sperm preparation for ICSI, preparation of testicular and epididymal sperm, sperm immobilization, oocyte injection, troubleshooting and optimizing ICSI outcomes. Vitrification: Embryo vitrification at different cell stages, selection of vitrification carrier, practical aspects of setting up a clinical vitrification program, frozen embryo replacement protocols Cost: Basic 4-day course is $4000 (lunch and transportation from hotel to clinic is provided). Applicants interested in more extensive training in ICSI, vitrification, embryo biopsy and preparation of blastomeres for PGD analysis should take the 5-day course ($5000).  The participant is responsible for hotel accommodations, travel and any other costs. This is a unique opportunity to interact with the embryologists and physicians at the Cleveland Clinic’s premier IVF program. This training program is conducted by Nina Desai, Ph.D.,HCLD. Director of the IVF Laboratory and Research Laboratories at the Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic’s IVF program does 500 fresh and 250 frozen cycles a year.
