Embryologist of The Month (March 2014) - Dr. Levent Keskintepe, DVM, PhD, HCLD

Dr. Keskintepe has been Executive Director of IVF Laboratories at Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine since 2001. He holds certifications of Embryologist by American College of Embryology, High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Clinical Consultant (CC) by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB). He is also serving as adjunct Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Nevada School of Medicine. He is a reviewer for several scientific journals including Fertility and Sterility, Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics and Theriogenology.

Dr. Keskintepe received his DVM degree in Turkey. He carried out his PhD work and Post-Doctoral training at the University of Georgia, Athens under the supervision of Dr. Benjamin Brackett. His research focused on developing in vitro chemically defined conditions for mammalian oocyte maturation, fertilization and culture.

After his post-doctoral training, he worked as a senior scientist at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, between 1998 and 2001 where he directed Transgenic and Stem Cell Core Unit and developed several mouse embryonic stem cell lines for research conducted by Institute of Molecular Medicine and Immunology. 

Dr. Keskintepe has been working in clinical embryology for more than 15 years and has participated in several research studies that have contributed to the growing success of assisted reproductive technologies with over 100 peer reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts published in national and international journals.
