Question:

Hi, I had this problem recently a couple of times, fert check at 18 hrs post ICSI showed 14 ova had 2pn but at 48 hrs only 7 had reached 4 cell stage, no cleavage in the rest, no pn either. I cultured the embryos further to 72 hrs, then 2 more embryos cleaved to 2 cell stage, no development in the rest. Other patients embryos which were cultured during the same time and in similar conditions progressed very well at 48 hrs. Checked everything from temp to Carbon dioxide saturation everything found ok. Second time around same thing occurred, only 50% of fertilised embryos cleaved in one patient whereas other patients embryos developed well. All the patients were given the same drugs and no age factor (both patient below 30 yrs). what may be the reason behind this?

Delay in ICSI clevage

"Hi, With ICSI, most of the MII oocytes accept the sperm. The 2PN you see after 18 hrs. is an indication of that.If the oocytes carry an aneuploid profile, they may not divide further and even block at 4 cell stage also. Above that, what is the cause of infertility of the female partner? and her age? If she has untreated PCOS, the embryos are bound to be in erratic division. How often you change distilled water in the humidity chamber per month ?"
