"Dear Friend,
Apart from given causes , if you do icsi after longer incubation of occs in culture media then the zona gets thickened and the oolemma becomes elastic and it can happen to pierce the opposite wall while injecting"

"Regarding poor integrity of the oolemma: We have been finding that this is often related to PCOS-type patients with high FSH, possibly those on Metformin. We are in the process of investigating this futher. Any information you discover on your end would be appreciated as well. Thanks."

"Almost every Embryologist experience in ICSI what you have experienced. Due to controlled hyperstimulation, many oocytes gets to maturity though naturally they would have withered. In a cohort, the oocytes do show asynchrony and hence different types of oocytes with different types of ooplasms etc. Thats why, the priming of the patients is important before taking up for ICSI. For ex. the PCOS patients need be investigated and treated for the pathology they carry or else we will end of with bad quality oocytes and can face what you are facing during ICSI. So, don't get annoyed by bad eggs, it's natural but do tell your clinician to prime the patient with appropriate gonadotrophins. Thanks."

"I had a bad experience with such oocytes. you have to be very gentle during ICSI. it might be related to stimulation period, the pressure at which oocytes were aspirated.
all the best."
