Background Seminal plasma must be separated from the spermatozoa in order to facilitate capacitation. In sperm preparation procedures, selection of vital and motile spermatozoa is done to increase likelihood of fertilisation. SupraSperm is designed for use outside the incubator for a limited time period. The medium is a colloidal suspension of silane coated silica particles in Medi-Cult's Sperm Preparation Medium (Cat.No. 1070). For convenience SupraSperm is available both as a ready-to-use gradient system (55% and 80%), a 90% and a 100% solution for individual preparation of gradients.
