"The use of copper metal in a water bath/water pan is a great idea. It is cheap and not volatile so it can't transport into the embryo's media

The key to keep mold and bacteria down is basic aseptic technique. Frequent changes of the water pan with sterile reagent water also helps.

For incubator cleaning we use a dilute aqueous solution of "quats" rinsing with 70% Et-OH followed by 6% H2O2. The H2O2 breaks down to water and oxygen..."
