Both workshops will be held at University College London and will be run by UCL Centre for PG&D:
PGD workshop: 12-16th March 2012
Cleavage and trophectoderm biopsy workshop: 19/20th March 2012
Due to the high demand for our international PGD workshops, we will be running a two PGD workshop in 2012 with a new format; 5 days ‘hands on’ workshop including lectures covering preimplantation development and genetics, the basics of IVF (laboratory and clinical), embryo biopsy, FISH and array CGH for PGD, molecular diagnosis for PGD, the ethical implications of the technology and the future of PGD. As well as lectures, the course will include hands on practicals and demonstrations including tubing cells for molecular diagnosis, spreading cells for FISH, FISH, array CGH and molecular diagnosis.
Biopsy will no longer be included in the PGD workshop as we will now additionally run a 2 day hands on workshop on embryo biopsy. This will include lectures on an introduction to PGD, the future of PGD, processing cells for PGD and embryo biopsy as well hands on practicals and demonstrations including cleavage stage and blastocyst biopsy, tubing cells for molecular diagnosis, and spreading cells for FISH. All delegates will have a tour of the Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health.
Both courses are limited to 20 people each and have been approved by the Royal College of Pathologists for CPD purposes (33 credits for the PGD workshop and 15 credits for the embryo biopsy). Delegates receive a detailed handbook, a certificate of attendance, use of state of the art equipment, all lunches, a social programme, and a unique opportunity to network with other scientists in the field.
Fees
This workshop is run in conjunction with the Cleavage and trophectoderm biopsy workshop. The early bird fee for just the PGD workshop only is £1750, for the embryo biopsy workshop only is £1000 or both workshops together is £2500. Early bird registration closes Jan 31st 2012. Fees then increase to £1950 for the PGD workshop, £1200 for the embryo biopsy workshop or £3000 for both workshops. The PGD workshop fees include two dinners, a trip on the London Eye, a boat trip on the Thames, all lunches and all refreshments during breaks.
